Turneffe Atoll, Belize
February 12-19, 2011
Turneffe Flats: Premier saltwater flyfishing, scuba diving and marine ecotourism destination. Located on the Turneffe Atoll, the largest and most biologically diverse coral atoll in the Caribbean.

Awaken in your air-conditioned beachfront cabin to an incredible tropical seascape of white sand beach, tranquil bonefish flats, lush mangroves and the surf breaking over the reef for miles in either direction. Watch a spectacular sunrise from your verandah and when night falls, the stars look close enough to touch.

Belize’s combination of islands and extensive underwater habitat make up the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System. This combination of natural assets has resulted in Belize designating some 7 marine reserves-all of which have been declared as World Heritage Sites b the United Nation’s Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
- Divers and snorkelers alike encounter a diverse and abundant selection of marine life as well as a kaleidoscope of color in a variety of locations spanning the length of the 185 mile Belize Barrier Reef. This includes subterranean coral gardens featuring over 70 types of hard corals, nearly 500 species of fish, the distinguished Blue Hole, playful dolphins, fascinating whale sharks, subdued sea turtles and graceful eagle rays. With visibility usually extending hundreds of feet, diverse dive sites and extensive marine life, Belize will not disappoint either the first-time or most experienced diver or snorkeler.
- The diversity of our saltwater flats fishing sets us apart from other destinations and the opportunity to catch bonefish, permit and tarpon on a given day makes Turneffe Flats one of the rare spots to pursue a "Flats Grand Slam," the landing all three species in a single day....
- The Caribbean coast is lined with a coral reef and some 450 islets and islands known locally as cays (pronounced “keys”). They total about 690 square kilometers (270 sq mi), and form the approximately 320 kilometer (200 mi) long Belize Barrier Reef. Three of merely four coral atolls in the Western Hemisphere are located off the coast of Belize.
- World class attractions include exploring the lush jungles with exotic plants and animals, deep sea fishing, swimming, snorkeling, diving in the Caribbean sea with its attractive reefs, and visiting the Mayan ruins.
